Nomming

I went to the grocery store today and bought a bunch of fruit and veggies, some chicken and a small pot roast, some dairy products and a few other odds and ends. What do you, on average, spend on groceries each week?

I'm excited for dinner! I am going to make chicken fajitas with sauteed peppers and onions, sour cream, cheese and lettuce along with sides of cilantro rice with corn, peas and carrots mixed in and black beans spiced with some cumin and chili powder. I think I might also roast some borccoli with some Mexican spices to go along with it. Mmmm.

C25K

I restarted the Couch to 5K program last week. I am on week 2 now. It's nice to be getting back into running. I think I will need new sneakers soon though. On Sunday, after finishing my C25K workout, I kicked and punched Andy's punching bag. I actually really enjoyed myself. Maybe I should get some gloves and do that more often, get some kick-boxing action happening.

Exercise

Last weekend I went to a prenatal yoga class. It was actually really nice. I enjoyed it. But then I pretty much always enjoy yoga.

One thing that I am looking forward to after the baby is born is getting back to working out regularly. I haven't done any running since about 20 weeks. I guess, I should be proud I ran that long but I would have liked to have made it longer with the running. We're heading toward spring, so I am looking forward to longer, warmer days. Hopefully that means Andy and I can get out for walks with the baby and the dogs. (Though we really need to work on our dogs leash manners. They are not nearly as calm as I would like but that's kind of our fault. We need to work with them more.)

Una

Last night Andy and I were trying to fall asleep (after talking about baby names for much longer than we should have given the time) and we ended up with a case of the giggles. We're laying there, all cuddled together, Una was smooshed against me as usual, little spoon to my big spoon with her head laying on my arm and snoring SO LOUDLY. Not only is she snoring her face off but she suddenly snorts and I reach out to touch her face to find her tongue sticking out of her mouth about an inch. Holy crap, so funny.

Stroller Quandry

Andy and I went to a local Mexican restaurant for a late lunch. The food was fantastic and the portions were actually really big (and/or we ate a lot of chips and salsa before getting our meals...). And they gave us free dessert because it was our first time eating there. Mmm. We each brought home about half our meal and most of dessert. Hello, dinner!

So we found a snap-n-go stroller frame at Target today that Andy had to have. We already have a stroller (the City Mini) but you have to buy a special attachment (which we did) in order to set the infant car seat on/in the stroller when the baby is itty bitty. I love the City Mini. I love how it looks, its size, the maneuverability, how easy it folds. Andy really likes it too but wasn't really sold on how the car seat snaps into the attachment and how secure that all is. Well, they have these snap-n-go stroller frames that are super basic and light that you just pop the car seat in and go. They're much cheaper than a regular stroller simply because they're not meant to be used long term and have zero features. I wasn't really interested in looking at the stroller frames since we had the City Mini with the attachment. I figured that would be fine, wasn't really concerned with how the car seat snapped into the attachment. And I love the City Mini. Did I mention that? Anyway, we were just going to go with the City Mini with attachment because most stroller frames run about $60 and the attachment for the City Mini was $60, so... did it really matter? I'm pretty sure that the stroller frame we got at Target today was incorrectly marked because we got it for... oh... $12. (It's on the website for $56.) If we return the City Mini attachment, we'll save $48, which I am sure we could use elsewhere. I feel kind of like I am cheating on the City Mini though.

If I move funny, make a weird noise, touch my belly, breath, ask for a glass of water, itch my arm, blink, excuse myself to go to the restroom or sigh, Andy's all over me. "ARE YOU HAVING CONTRACTIONS? IS IT GO TIME?" I think he asked me if it was go time about 18 times while we were out shopping today. Grocery shopping has never been so exciting for Andy.

Moving on Up

Authored by Rickey Combs

After almost two years on the market, our house finally sold. Thank goodness. We didn’t get what we had originally hoped for it, but honestly, we were just glad to break even in this economy. It was hard to see no profit, but we got such a deal on our new house, that we can’t really complain. Five bedrooms, 3 and a half bath, full finished basement, granite countertops, hardwood flooring throughout, fenced in back yard on an acre. So out with the old, and in with the new! Onward and upward. Since my husband doesn’t do well with finances, or paperwork, I am the one taking on getting everything set up and connected. The thing I did first was go to http://www.satelliteinternetbroadband.com/hughesnet/New-York/R/Rochester/ to get our internet connected. Now that we have internet, I can go online to most of the other websites and have everything transferred to our new home. Let’s see, I need to have our mail forwarded, but I can do that online, have gas turned on, have electric turned on, set up a time for our security company to set up a new system, etc. Click, click, click, done! Thank you technology!

I am starting small with the working exercise back into daily life thing and I am trying to use my treadmill every other day. I used it tonight for 30 min. at an incline of 5. I varied my speed a little and did 10 min. at 3.2, 10 min. at 3 and then the last 10 min. at 3.2. I wonder if I am just that out of shape or maybe I just sweat a lot because just walking had me sweating.

I read my book while I was walking, so hooray for multi-tasking!

Last night I took some time for myself and worked on a project that I have actually been wanting to work on rather than projects with looming deadlines. I do have some dog collars I need to get finished though.

Burton on Zappos.com

Of course everyone knows how awesome Zappos.com is for SO MANY things. When it comes to internet shopping, that is where it's at. I love looking at all the things by Burton on Zappos.com.

With winter coming up, I have been checking out their coats and jackets. I really like these two.

In addition to clothing, they also have skate and snow gear, so that's pretty awesome. It makes me want to go skiing and we all know I love skiing.

And they have stuff for men and kids too. I'm loving this shirt for my husband.

Can you say Christmas, anyone? I'll totally be checking out Burton for Christmas gifts.

Hmmm

I am wondering where to go with this blog... What kind of blog should this be? I tried to make it a healthy living blog but... that kind of floundered. Well... what now?

Anyway...

I've been told that I need to rank myself much higher on my list of priorities. I've not even really been making the list, I think. Not for any real reason other than I don't really know how to prioritize myself. I don't know what to do for myself. How does one make one's self a priority? I'm not really sure. But I decided I am going to try.

One thing I am going to do is try to get back into the habit of exercising. I know that I feel better when I am active and make the time to exercise but I haven't done any sort of exercise in over a month because I've either been extremely busy or sick. I have decided I am going to start making the time for exercise. I have a treadmill. I have workout videos. I have hand weights. I have a step. I have DDR and WiiFit. There is no reason not to. I just have to make the time for myself.

The goal isn't to lose weight (though I wouldn't complain). I just want to feel fit and in shape. And I know I feel better and more positive about myself when I am active. If ihad the ability to join a gym (particularly a CrossFit gym), I would. I'd love to be able to go to classes. Spin, step, zumba, kick boxing, yoga, etc. But that's not in the cards right now and that's okay. As I said, I have other avenues at my fingertips here at home.

I started tonight. I walked on the treadmill for 20 min. (at 3.5 incline and 3.5 speed) and then did some stretching. A small start but it's a start at least.

And I am going to continue to make time for exercise.

I am also going to try to go to bed earlier so that maybe I won't always feel so tired.

What do you collect?

I don't know about any of you but I collect a lot things - books, dragons, odd pens, fitness-related items that are mostly serving as dust catchers right now... And my husband collects model ships.

Whatever it is you collect, you could probably find it on this shopwiki for Collectibles and Memorabilia.

Think I'm kidding? Check it out.

My husband's sister is way into Elvis. She could check out their Elvis memorabilia buying guide.

It really seems like there is something for everyone - sports cards, coins, even collectible spoons!

Personally, I am going to check out the rare books.
